Summary: 

The Director of Development and fundraising is responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of Morning Star Boys Ranch donor development and fundraising, including but not limited to: developing our donor base and strengthening donor relationships, managing individual and corporate donations and overseeing the following: the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns.

  • Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
  • Continually expand donor base
  • Create and maintain strong communications program and fundraising message with donors
  • Implement consistent donor processes to develop major gift prospects
  • Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors
  • Research donor relation programs at local, state, and federal institutions, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns
  • Ensure timely and accurate reports are provided to donors
  • Monthly reports to the board
  • Collaborate with all MSBR staff/ volunteers on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
  • Attend meetings such as Rotary, Glenrose association to develop donor relations
  • Work with board and board committees (capital campaign committees)
  • Annual reports, Publications such as the Harvester
  • Develop and print marketing materials related to fundraising in collaboration with our public relations department
  • Maintain records of donor information and contributions
  • Ensure that all legal reporting requirements are satisfied

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Communications, or other appropriate Field
  • Three years of fundraising experience
  • Foundation relationship and grant writing experience
  • Familiarity with donor software
